BioPAD to participate in the ‘Bioenergy from Forest’ Conference – Helsinki, Finland – 15th – 18th September 2014

The International Bioenergy from Forest Conference is organised by Benet Ltd. and brings current and future bioenergy and biofuel users and producers of bio-based products together with bioenergy business people, developers, financiers, manufactures, technology providers, scientists and teachers, policy makers, authorities and other organisations.  This is a place where you can meet all the key-players in the bioenergy industry.  At the Bioenergy from Forest Conference, BioPAD will present the project results focusing on the BISCUIT (BioPAD Supply Chain Tool).

The Conference will focus on the factors affecting the future of the bioenergy.  An important role is to create forest energy markets and mobilization.  One focus is examples how to create markets and to overcome barriers on national and international markets.  Some countries, e.g. Russia, and areas, e.g. North America and South America, have huge forest resources and will play an important role in international business.  Another important factor is forest energy resources in national strategies.  Modern technologies for forest fuel production, handling transport and logistics will be presented and shown during technical tours.  Combustion, boiler technologies and Combined Heat & Power Production (CHP) power plants for forest fuels are of importance in practical use.  The conference will also focus on conversion technologies, especially production of pellets and torrefied fuels, transport fuels and pyrolysis.

Call for Papers is still open if your topic will focus on forest machinery, especially for productivity models using new technologies or working in a new environment.  If you have any studies related to these issues, please send it immediately to

Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) is one of the organisers of this event.  On behalf of Bioenergy from Forest Conference, Metla welcomes you to come and see interesting presentations or to present your latest research regarding forest energy.

About biopadblog

Developing a local bioenergy market can provide significant opportunities for rural and remote areas, by improving security of energy supply, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions and stimulating the local economy by creating jobs and keeping payments for energy within the local community. A new project, BioPAD (Bioenergy Proliferation and Deployment), which targets the Northern Periphery of Europe, aims to ensure that bioenergy becomes more widely used and that awareness of the opportunities it provides are increased. The project will help the development of bioenergy and improve our understanding of the links between supply and demand by looking at supply chains for a variety of bioenergy fuels and different ways of converting these fuels into sustainable energy. Understanding the supply chains and the ways bioenergy moves from fuel source to energy provision will help the establishment of robust and efficient supply services which can match local demand. BioPAD is led by the Western Development Commission (Ireland) and is funded under the ERDF Interreg IVB Northern Periphery Programme (NPP)
